Agentic checkout is standardizing: ACP powers Instant Checkout in ChatGPT and covers digital goods and subscriptions; Google/Shopify’s UCP launched at NRF 2026 with 20+ major retailer and payment endorsements. Consoles, game licenses, and subscription tiers all have a standards path into agent-mediated buying. This project pilots one — with guardrails — rather than adopting broadly on hope.

Why this, mechanically. Discovery and conversion are splitting surfaces: one retailer found checkout inside ChatGPT converted ~3× worse than a click-through to its own site, even as ChatGPT drove ~2× the new-customer rate. For subscriptions, in-surface sign-up also surrenders the onboarding flow that drives retention. A pilot with explicit guardrails is a decision; broad adoption without them is a bet. The written routing policy is what keeps high-consideration purchases on owned checkout.

Deliverable. One product line, one market, one protocol, with explicit conversion, margin, and support-load guardrails, and a written transaction-routing policy (in-surface for low-consideration digital goods; owned checkout for hardware and subscriptions).

Finish line. The pilot has run long enough to compare conversion, new-customer rate, and support load per path, and the routing policy is decided on that evidence.

The feed side of readiness is a separate infrastructure project; this project owns the routing decision, not the feed.
